University & economy

What is the university doing, and where is the district economy headed? Charles Sturt University anchors the region across its Bathurst, Orange and Dubbo campuses, with genuine local research hooks in agriculture and wine science. Two Regional Development Australia bodies, RDA Central West and RDA Orana, front the best single civic-economy surfaces, from regional reports to the growth and freight agenda.

We mine the university's newsroom for the stories that actually touch the region, read the RDA reports and the local economic data, and set the numbers in context, with a methodology note whenever a story turns on them and a caution not to compare across data platforms naively.
